Pressure / Static Head / Residual Pressure Check

Estimate downstream residual pressure from upstream pressure, elevation change and user-supplied total headloss.

Simplified two-point steady head balance. V1 excludes velocity-head difference, pump head and automatic headloss calculation.

Methodology

Pressure head and residual pressure

TOOL-012 uses hₚ=P/(ρg) with nominal water density ρ=1000 kg/m³ and g=9.80665 m/s².

The frozen V1 head balance is h₂ = h₁ + z₁ - z₂ - hL, where velocity-head difference is excluded and total headloss is supplied by the user.

Worked example

For upstream pressure 300 kPa, z₁=100 m, z₂=112 m and hL=8 m: upstream pressure head=30.591486389 m, static elevation delta=-12.000 m, residual head=10.591486389 m, residual pressure=103.867000000 kPa.

Optional minimum pressure

If a minimum residual pressure is entered, status compares only against that supplied threshold. It is not a code-compliance verdict. The machine-readable calculation scope is pressure-plus-static-minus-user-supplied-losses-no-velocity-head.

Limitations

V1 excludes velocity-head difference, pump head, surge, automatic friction/minor-loss calculation and network hydraulics.
