Pump Duty Point Helper

Calculate a preliminary pump duty head and hydraulic power from design flow, static head and user-supplied losses.

Single duty point only. No pump curve, system curve, NPSH or manufacturer selection in V1.

Losses are supplied explicitly.

Leave efficiency blank for hydraulic-power-only mode.

Methodology

Pump duty head and hydraulic power

TOOL-013 uses H = Hstatic + hL and Ph = ρgQH. V1 fixes nominal water density at 1000 kg/m³ and g=9.80665 m/s².

Worked example

For Q=0.05 m³/s, static head=18 m and losses=7 m, required pump head=25.000000 m and hydraulic power=12.258313 kW. At η=0.75, estimated shaft power=16.344417 kW.

Optional efficiency

If pump efficiency is supplied, TOOL-013 estimates shaft power as Ph/η. Motor efficiency is not included. Machine-readable mode is hydraulic-only when efficiency is blank and hydraulic-plus-user-efficiency when it is supplied.

Limitations

No pump curve intersection, system-curve scanning, NPSH, motor sizing, VFD control, parallel/series pumps, surge or network hydraulics are included.
